friday’s fall fashion

September 3, 2010

even though it’s still summer, every time september rolls around i start thinking about fall.  maybe it’s the beginning of crisp mornings or the wearing of light sweaters at night.  or maybe it’s the planting for fall harvests.  either way i all the sudden crave leafy decor and autumn colors of green, orange, yellow and red.  here are some handmade finds that get my in the spirit of september!

i thought today i would share some inspiring spaces with you.  each of them get me itching to redecorate or at least do a project or two!  i love all of the patterns represented here, and i can see some yellow stripes in my near future.  and that feather pillow? i’m in full blown ‘re-create’ mode after seeing it.  i hope you enjoy, get inspired and plan a weekend project (and then share it)!

Simple Vertical Garden

September 2, 2010

I’m in the middle of moving from one house to another and just splurged and ordered a bunch of Wally’s from woolypockets to build a vertical wall for myself as a housewarming present!   I have been coveting the Wally’s for a while now and finally took the plunge.  How could I possibly resist the promise of lush houseplants growing up my wall…without having to build an entire irrigation system to care for them!!!

OK…so I won’t go quite this far…that’s over 100 Wally Five’s!!

But I’m hoping for something like this:

Or this in my new kitchen – I love how it is filled with edibles!

Woolypockets are made from recycled soda bottles, are lightweight and easy to install and, most importantly, have a great irrigation system that won’t harm your walls or your floors. I’m super excited and look forward to planting these guys up!

Here’s a video with more information about the Wally Woolypockets:

Have a great weekend my plant loving friends!

dear colorado springs,

we so enjoyed our visit.  thank you for having such beautiful weather!  our mornings were crisp and our afternoons were perfectly sunny.  our evenings were met with a gentle breeze just perfect for a light sweater. we walked and walked and though our feet got tired your scenery rejuvenated us.  our meals were delicious and the local shops made our visit so fun.  thank you for having no bugs (north carolina, are you listening?), i so appreciated not receiving a single mosquito bite during our visit!  your mountains are glorious and your skies are vast.  though this visit was short, we hope to be back soon. bye bye!

rover dog clothing

this shop swept me off my feet! i’m a dog lover, and boy do i think toaster would look smashing and dashing in one of these tailored garments!  handmade in toronto, canada, each piece from rover is uniquely crafted using high quality fabrics and finishes.  aren’t they beautiful? aren’t their models just to die for? i want to snuggle up with them all!
