i woke up this morning to an e-mail from my dear friend amy over at handmade evolution telling me about one of the most exciting and beautiful ideas i’ve come across in a long time.  a beautiful idea is a place where etsy sellers and any other artists selling online can create for a cause.

how it works:

participants are to create a product to list and sell in their store, with 100% of the sale of that item going to charity. it can be ongoing, or a one-time deal. once a sale is made, you are responsible for donating the funds to ABI.  at the end of every month, ABI will donate the funds given to the chosen charity and give a report on their blog. every 6 months (or once their monetary goal is hit), a new charity will be selected.  you can click here to read more.

a beautiful idea

a beautiful idea is unique in that it doesn’t only offer artists a chance to make a difference, but it allows consumers to support the movement as well.  above is just a sampling of the items you can already buy from participants that are donating their proceeds {see all participant’s items here}.

it’s easy to get involved, by simply filling out this form you can begin to put all your creativity to a larger cause.

“what if  just 1% of etsy.com’s 200,000 sellers donated the profits to one $20 item a month?  that’s $40,000 a month.”

you can also visit handmade evolution to read a little q&a with the founder of a beautiful idea, evie shaffer. i’m headed over now to get started on adding something, what do you say, will you make a difference with me?

wrap up: {} {} {} {} {}
