flea market find

during our travels last weekend, i was able to make it to one of my favorite spots, the raleigh flea market! that’s where i came across this beaut- and though i wasn’t sure what my plans were for her- i knew she had to be mine!

flea market find

the gal i bought it from (for $10!) said it used to be the top to an old tobacco smoker(?).  do you know anything about it?  at first my plan was to clean it up and paint it, but once i set it in my living room i think i’ve decided stick with the patina charm for now.  what do you think?

zinnia flowers

did you notice all my pretty pretty flowers? last week, i was also showered with some of the most beautiful birthday flowers from friends!  pretty yellow day lilies and pink and orange zinnias are making my house feel so bright and joyful right now.

zinnia flowers

aren’t these stunning? they are from my dear friend callie’s yard (talk about a green thumb).  i think the zinnia might just be my new favorite flower!

  • The flowers are gorgeous and I love your find, brings so much charm to a space!

  • Yes! Zinnia’s are simply gorgeous, aren’t they? I have them in my garden and just love how they fill up and beautify the space they are in. What a fabulous find!

  • Oh, I just love rusty found objects like that! I think you should definitely leave it as-is and enjoy its unique patina. I’ll be interested to hear if any other readers know more about its original use.

  • i adore zinnia, my nana always had them in her garden. the colours are so bold, it looks like they’ve been coloured in with citrusy felt pens.

love it as is! what a wonderful find!

  • I love your find as well and just as it is! do you think it should get some cork feet…it looks a little poky for your lovely floor…the flowers from your friend’s yard are so *pretty*

  • What a great find! I agree, I like the look as-is with the rust – the flowers look beautiful on it!

    Oh, and happy belated birthday!

Leave it as is I say. Maybe a pretty kerchief as a setting for the flowers?

  • Leave it!!! Oh lordy I love the rustiness!

  • survey says… leave it as is! hehe, thanks for all your opinions! and i must say, i was hoping you would say that. ;)

also, great advice for the kerchief and the cork – the feet are a bit poky! ;)

  • I think it’s beautiful!

  • Hi bonnie. Leave it…love it! I was a little worried about your gorgeous floor too, tho. Some floor protectors would solve that easily.
Also…I gave you a little shout out on my blog today. :)

  • Glad the survey and you agree to leave it – I love this table, it has such a great charm to it. You could always just seal it if the rust became an issue
