august desktop calendar

august is one of my favorite months (check back tomorrow to see why), so i had tons of fun creating this desktop calendar for you. inspired by the vibrant southwest, i think it has a warm and summery feel to it. happy august!

art by meghann rader

not to continue on my kick for all things mountainous or anything, but i just can’t seem to get enough of it. i love meghann rader’s artwork because she seems to tie together so many of the things that i love: nature, geometrics, jewelry, woodland scenes and animals (not to mention killer photography). hop on over to her shop, website or blog to see more!

we’ve been visiting our home town in the snuggly mountains of north carolina this week and it’s been giving me the warm and fuzzies. the hills are so inspiring and the dusty blues of the smoky mountains take me breath away every time.

mountains mountains

column one: 1 | 2 | 3  column two: 1 | 2 | 3

unlike any other mountains i’ve ever seen, the smoky mountains roll on and on- lightening from dark blue to light blue. in my opinion, it’s nature’s perfect ombre! since my mind has been on the mountains lately, i have been naturally drawn to things that remind me of the area. i hope you enjoy!

doe a deer

one of the things i love most about decorating is mixing styles. i love to mix really old pieces with new ones and especially like throwing in some rustic touches on top of it all. whether it’s a cabin-in-the-woods feel or a more aztec vibe you’re going for, i think rustic pieces can really give your space extra depth.

faux mounted deer

column one: 1 | 2 | 3  column two: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4

one way to accomplish this look would be with this modern twist on the ol’ mounted deer head- faux taxidermy. it can give your space a modern-yet-rustic look- not to mention it’s a much kinder way to decorate. above are some of my favorites!

vegan dinner ideas

yum yum! we’ve been in north carolina this week, one of my favorite foodie places in america. the farmers markets are vibrant and full of that good-ol’-town-local-vibe. here’s what we made!

monday : cinnamon curry quinoa burgers
tuesday: grilled veggie pizza
wednesday: balsamic maple glazed tempeh with wild rice
thursday: my favorite spinach spanakopita (!)
friday: garden catch all salsa tortillas

what was on your plate this week? any favorite recipes you’d like to share?

we follow a whole foods, plant based diet. the dinner ideas posts are a way for me to log our dinners, how we make eating this way easy, and hopefully inspire you to try some new things as well. they are always meat free, dairy free and often gluten free. you can follow the posts here, and i encourage you to share your favorite recipes with us as well!

downton abbey

downton abbey’s violet crawley | heirloom silk scarf | lady mary sketch card | downton abbey card

it’s no secret that i love downton abbey (my most favorite tv series in the history of all tv shows). i was smitten when i found this heirloom scarf over on creature comforts and loved exploring the handmade world of other downton abbey fans. if you’re a fan, you also must check out these amazing (and hilarious!) printable downton abbey paperdolls.
