i thought etsy’s feeling stately newsletter was adorable this morning (did you get it?), which inspired me to do a little roundup of my own states. over the last two years we’ve lived in three states, but there will never be a place like my home sweet home of north carolina.

i love you california

i love california

today, i return home to california. after being away from over a month, i’m anxious to get back. not only to my home, my things and my normal routine but also to the sunshine, flowers and sweet aroma. time spent with family and friends over the last few weeks have filled me with joy and given me unforgettable memories, but i’ll be happy to unpack and root down for a bit. i’m feeling a bit jostled and tired but thankful for the opportunity to travel. since i’ve been in both colorado and north carolina, i know my internal clock (and all my electronics) will be excited to return to a single time zone. a full day of travel is ahead, but freshly farmed veggies, pink roses and my own soft bed awaits me. you can follow my travels over on instagram, i’ll meet you there!

vegan dinner ideasthis week, our travels have taken us to colorado! we’re lucky enough to be staying in a rental house, so have made do with the local grocery store and farmers market quite well. here’s what we’ve cooked!

monday: vegetarian fajitas with red rice and tortilla chips
tuesday: sweet potato chili with a garden salad
wednesday: black rice stir fry with no bake cookies for dessert :)
thursday: easy thai green curry
friday: farro with roasted cauliflower salad with sweet potatoes

what was on your plate this week? any favorite recipes you’d like to share?

we follow a whole foods, plant based diet. the dinner ideas posts are a way for me to log our dinners, how we make eating this way easy, and hopefully inspire you to try some new things as well. they are always meat free, dairy free and often gluten free. you can follow the posts here, and i encourage you to share your favorite recipes with us as well!

outdoor patio lights (2)

when i added a few outdoor lights to our patio (see above) i couldn’t believe the insta-magic that occurred. it made the space so cozy and romantic! with cost effective options from target and ikea, it’s an easy project that gives a lot of bang for your buck. the above project only cost me $26! below you’ll find more inspiration on how to make a little insta-magic yourself.

i’m used to having flowers in my yard. it was a long (and cold) 7 months in colorado without a single boom in my yard. to be greeted here by several dozen rose bushes, fresh herbs and a trailing vine that covers the house has been more than wonderful, its been rejuvenating. things are getting back to normal. things are green and colorful once again. i picked these a few days ago and love the soft brightness they bring into the room. today, i am thankful for blooms of all kinds. what are you thankful for?

online garage sale!

April 14, 2011

Posted in bonnie forkner

that’s right, we’re having an online garage sale! you all know that we’re moving at the end of the month, and that we’ve already found a place to live (yeah!). what does that mean? we need to downsize. BIG TIME! what does that mean for you? you get to attend our garage sale right from your own home! no waking up early, no getting lost trying to find us, no hustle and bustle with other shoppers. just you in your pjs. ahhh.

we’ll be listing more and more things over the next few weeks, so stay tuned! all furniture must be picked up locally (we’re in colorado springs, co) but all home decor is available for shipping. click here to read more about how we’re handling things, and let me know if you have any questions.

happy shopping! xox, bonnie (& dave)

happy friday, lovelies! did you have a good week? i sure did. we’ve been at our home in north carolina ever since wednesday and it is so beautiful here! i snapped this picture with my cell phone as i walked out of our parent’s house yesterday morning. isn’t it beautiful? after being through new mexico, arizona and colorado, i can’t believe how colorful everything here is already. my allergies have been protesting, but it’s totally worth it. i love the greens, pinks, yellows and purples.

this week on ghtr and around the web:

- check out these adorable dopamine hearts and support the parkinson’s disease unity walk

- learn how to get crafty with birch wood

- meet my mom

- see the kombucha scoby my friend and i are growing!

- ever heard of a chia seed?

- learn how to make your own baby food

- did you find a good all natural sun screen yet?

a BIG HUGE thank you to all the amazing guest posters i had this week! i couldn’t have managed this week without you. big hugs to each one of you!

what are you doing this weekend? i’ll be relaxing and catching up with friends and will be looking forward to seeing you back here on monday. xox! bonnie
