let’s just call it what it is: junk. and i’m addicted to it! what do they say, one man’s junk is another man’s gold? everytime i pass by a junky old shop or yardsale i get all excited inside, and it looks like i share that passion with old crow farm. all their ‘junk’ would give a home a story to tell, and i love all the ways these pieces can spruce up your decor! they have lots of old things to help organize your spaces (another addiction of mine), i see so much potential!

during our travels last weekend, i was able to make it to one of my favorite spots, the raleigh flea market! that’s where i came across this beaut- and though i wasn’t sure what my plans were for her- i knew she had to be mine!

the gal i bought it from (for $10!) said it used to be the top to an old tobacco smoker(?).  do you know anything about it?  at first my plan was to clean it up and paint it, but once i set it in my living room i think i’ve decided stick with the patina charm for now.  what do you think?

did you notice all my pretty pretty flowers? last week, i was also showered with some of the most beautiful birthday flowers from friends!  pretty yellow day lilies and pink and orange zinnias are making my house feel so bright and joyful right now.

aren’t these stunning? they are from my dear friend callie’s yard (talk about a green thumb).  i think the zinnia might just be my new favorite flower!

well this is it. my dream store.  i keep a list of vintage finds that i’m on the scout out for, and i think three potato four just helped me mark all of them off the list.  from vintage letterpress letters to nautical preservers, you name it and they have it!  owned by janet morales and husband stu eli, this biz is run by a family full of collectors.  they’ve been busy working on a storefront to open soon in philadelphia, and i may just need to book a trip!

there’s nothing like walking into a vintage store, and upon first glance realizing you struck gold.  it seems that they either have everything you’ve ever been looking for or they just ain’t got it. when i took a virtual stroll through bird in hand, i realized that i had struck gold.  things i didn’t even know i had been looking for were there, staring back at me.  like this old school b-ball  hoop? yes, please!  plus, i love the sweet name ‘bird in hand’, that she partly derived from psalm 145, verse 16: “you open your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing.”

i’ve always had a special liking for shabby chic decor.  it’s not usually my dominant style, but i like to throw touches of it around the house.  this adorable shop, south rose window, has a beautiful selection of shabby chic pieces and cottage style decor.  i love vintage finds that give depth to a space and a little cottage character!
