Posted by in home decor

hello darlings!  i realized the other day how long it had been seen we had talked about home decor, and suddenly missed it!  i’ll try to share more roosts with you from now on. :)  today’s comes from a lovely graphic designer, yvonne huynh.

doesn’t her home provide a breath of fresh air?  i love the color pallet- muted and natural, with pops of color.  and what gorgeous pillows she has on her couch!  her little pup makes me smile too, the perfect accessory for her home.

you can see all of yvonne’s home in her flickr album, and even more at her beautiful blog where she shares yummy recipes and more design!

p.s. big announcement coming later today!

hillary bird

hillary bird is one of the most darling shops i’ve come across in a long time!  her illustrations show her passions for nature and the arts, and her new moth prints are so pretty and unique.  she mixes color and pattern in a way that is so unexpected and fun, i can’t visit her shop without a smile breaking across my face.

south rose vintage

i’ve always had a special liking for shabby chic decor.  it’s not usually my dominant style, but i like to throw touches of it around the house.  this adorable shop, south rose window, has a beautiful selection of shabby chic pieces and cottage style decor.  i love vintage finds that give depth to a space and a little cottage character!

wren woods

a few years ago, i fell hard for the seemingly new theme of bringing the outdoors in.  it’s with chic elegance that you can now adorn your space with outdoor treasures without going country.  i’ve got little wooden shelves, a twig key holder and even some drift wood around my home as decor and every time i see a twig, something inside me always makes me want it.  there was no exception when i ran across wren woods, and all of their beautiful hooks and vases.  they are all handcrafted and made from real wood, sealed for protection.  they’re simple coversation peices that make a statment about your decor, and best of all they’re affordable!

have you all been reading young house love?  if you’re looking for design, decor, diy projects and home renovation, this blog is loaded with inspiring projects, useful information and tons of the ‘can-do’ spirit!

pssst! you might want to tune in to ace of base’s ‘the sign‘ to continue with this post!

from gathered inspiration from a recent NYC trip…

the lovely sherry & john whipped these two signs up right on there home computer.  that’s right- and just printed them from their home printer on regular ol’ paper.

after some magic aging techniques and mod podge.. (check this post for step by step instructions).

voila!  two beautiful, chic, diy and totally affordable art pieces!

holiday diy magazine wreath

hi dearies! look at what i made this weekend!  a quick and easy magazine wreath that was so fun to make. you could use lots of different materials to give it a different look too- old sheet music, pages from a vintage book, even pictures!  i tried to put the seemingly endless supply of holiday catalogs to use- here’s how:

holiday diy magazine wreath

supplies:

-a few magazines (or other material of your choice)

-a stapler

-glue gun

-cardboard

i cut the cardboard out by tracing a big round baking pan then a smaller plate inside- then used an exacto knife to cut the wreath out.

while letting the glue gun warm up- you can start ripping out the pages that you want to use.  i tried using the brightly colored ones, and then some white ones to calm it down a bit.

rolling them in half, i stapled about 5 together at a time.  if you can see, i then bent back the ends to give some sort of a surface to apply the glue to.  after you have your bundles of five or so pages, start gluing them around the wreath. just be mindful of maintaining your ‘inner circle’ and i don’t think there’s any way you could go wrong- it’s as easy as that!
