my BIG news!

April 9, 2013

reminisce by bonnie christine for art gallery fabrics

hey friends! today i get to FINALLY share my BIG news with you, something i’ve been wanting to do since november (and teasing you along the way)! i am so (so so so so) excited to announce that i am art gallery fabrics newest designer! eeeee!

many of you know, being a fabric designer has been a dream of mine for many years, and i couldn’t be more excited that it’s finally coming true! most importantly, it’s with my most favorite company. art gallery fabrics is modern, fresh and fun. their cotton has a superior thread count and fine weave, which gives the fabric a super soft and luscious feel.

my first collection with art gallery is called reminisce. it was inspired by sunshiny days and simpler ways. it’s full of sweet summery hues and has a very vintage feel to it, and it will be coming to stores in june!

in celebration, we’ll be chatting about all things fabric, designing and blogging today on two different talkin’ tuesday twitter chat sessions! follow hashtag #talknt2 for our first chat from 1-3pm EST and #talknt for our second chat from 9-11pm EST tonight. you can come join in the conversation and ask us anything! for more info on talkin’ tuesdays, check out this post.

tips:

>> i use tweetchat.com to easily follow and participate with the chat sessions, check it out!

>> find me on twitter here: https://twitter.com/gohometoroost

>> be sure to include hashtag #talknt2 for the first session or @talknt for the 2nd session, otherwise we won’t see your tweets!

see you there!

natural dyeing with pomegranates

these pure and earthy, vibrant fibers have been colored with natures own botanical dye- pomegranates. the recipe comes from folk fibers, where maura grace ambrose dyes all of her own fabrics and uses only natural materials in her beautiful quilts. she lives in austin, texas where she organically grows, harvests and forages for natural dyes around the area.  you can also grab the recipes for using osage oranges, onions (yellow & red) and wild mushrooms as natural dyes, each with breathtakingly beautiful results!

i’ve been using spoonflower to get custom fabric printed for a long time now, so i was thrilled to hear about their launch of custom wallpaper and wall decals this week.

custom wallpaper from spoonflower

now we crafsters, designers and do-it-yourselfers can design our own wallpaper for any space, any time. and if you’re not a designer, you can still browse spoonflower’s thousands of designs made by independent artists. spoonflower’s wallpaper is also removable and eco friendly, which makes it perfect for renters (or anyone who just likes to change things up frequently)!

with an eye toward environmentally conscious consumers and moms looking to decorate nurseries and kids’ rooms, spoonflower has printed their wallpaper on PVC-free paper using durable, eco-friendly inks, so you can feel safe about using it in nurseries and kids’ rooms.
