favorites from santa

hello, loves! as i’ve been reflecting on christmas and how much fun we had with our families, i keep thinking about how blessed we are with love so much for each other, health and lots of happiness. i’ll be the first to admit that both of our families are way too generous when it comes to gift giving. we all truly believe that it is more blessed to give then to receive- but that just means we all still end up with lots of gifts to open- haha. so, i thought i’d share a few of the things that i’ve been enjoying since christmas!

1. baxton studio rocker. i’ve needed a rocking chair for months now and this one is just perfect. it’s small (perfect for our house), super comfy and most importantly enjoyed by bear!

2. arch ring from another feather. this might be my most favorite gift from david. it’s so beautiful, light and smooth that i never take it off!

3. knit tassel throw (in yellow). a warm and cozy blanket perfect for these chilly evenings.

4. iphone 5s. i know, i know. my dad splurged big time on this. but i needed a new one badly and will cherish this one for a long time.

5. dream traveler. a beautiful carry on bag from amy butler’s collection with kalencom. made from organic canvas cotton, it is indeed dreamy!

6. full story. my favorite mascara.

7. striped leggings. comfy enough for around the house, cute enough to run to town.

8. bkr in chip. my new favorite water bottle!

9. wall bin. hung by my desk for odds and ends.

10. hand blender. how i ever lived without one, i’m not sure. (it makes pureeing smoothies and soups a cinch!)

what was your favorite gift this year?

i didn’t actually realize how much these works of art had in common until i put them all together in this post for you. it’s funny how sometimes we’re just drawn to similar colors, themes and values, isn’t it? i suppose right now i’m loving tribal themed, floral accented, woodland inspired artwork!

we’ve been on quite the movie kick lately (i.e. we’re tired of summer programming) so i thought i’d share some of my latest favorites with you. have you seen anything good lately?

summer 2012 movies

1. the hunter – one of our favorites- an unpredictable storyline that the men will enjoy as well.
2. the hunger games – i just finished reading the series, so of course. :)
3. born to be wild – adorable, educational and very entertaining (and short!).
4. salmon fishing in the yemen – a fly fishing love story.
5. sarah’s key – one for a more serious kind of evening.
6. the lucky one – beautiful and romantic (and david survived it alright).
7. wanderlust – funny and light hearted (for the hippy in you).
8. the vow – sad and happy all at the same time.

handmade picks

lately, i’ve found myself bookmarking several handmade shops. i’ll leave a tab open in my browser, ‘favorite’ their shop or send myself an e-mail about them (yup, i do that). it seems as though the limit to fabulous artists and shops are never ending, and it is so amazing to witness and be a part of this incredible movement. the opportunities for artists are now so great, that if anyone has the inkling to to be creative, there’s an outlet for it. how incredible is that?! here are a few of my latest favs:

citrus, betty shih tzu, big bad wolf iphone sleeve, embroidered pendant, blue sailor wolf, vintage wooden spools
