tdiy thrift store frames

you’ve probably gathered by now that i’ve got a thing for 1) old frames, 2) white paint & 3) diy projects.  whelp- this one combines all three!  i’ve got old frames all over my house, and i’m estimating that i didn’t spend more than $15 on all of them put together.  it’s amazing what you’ll find if you just do a little thrifting!

i used valspar spray paint (found at most hardware stores) to turn these ol’ frames into some of my favorite pieces around the house.

here’s the how to:

1) give your frames a good cleaning (i used simple green and a dry cloth), and let dry.

2) most frames will benefit greatly if you use a primer like this one (half way down, #65054), which helps the top coat stick better, cover better and go on smoothly.

3) after the primer has dried, spray paint with a high gloss white paint (i used valspar gloss in white).  let dry completely (only takes a few hours!) and your ready to start displaying them.

i had the pleasure of running across amber’s sweet shop, olive some day, and fell in love!  it’s full of little adornments and all of them are captured so beautifully.  she also has a fabulous blog, appropriately named, she can’t decide.  what a perfect name! i can never decided either- i jump from hobby to hobby and never know what my next creative endeavor will be.  if all of this isn’t enough, she’s got two other adorable etsy shops {funkey finds} & {it’s bella} and has even converted her husband to owning a shop! wow. p.s. don’t you love this lavender wall?

hi lovelies! i’ve finally finished my little project, and want to share it with you!

i fell in love with this print at an old antique store, decided to bring it home and then got creative!  i’ve always loved old prints, but never known quite what to do with them.  i’m also a romantic at heart- and love simple, sweet & dreamy sayings (though i never knew what to do with them either!). well, the two have collided and i’m very excited to reveal….

now open

the new shop i’ve been working on: old renewed!

i’ve been collecting old, vintage and past loved frames and pictures for a few months now.  i bring them home, clean them up, give their frames a fresh coat of white paint and then get to dreaming of what the picture makes me think of.  each of these upcycled past loved treasuries are given a new lease on life- and each remind me of a simpler, more romantic way of life.  i hope you like them!
