please welcome guest poster, sam from good meausure & inklore design

Hi there, my name is Sam.  I am a block print artist living with my wonderful husband and adorable children in San Jose, California.  When I’m not blogging, designing, or printing I enjoy all of the small pleasures of life: warm bread, fresh basil from the garden, a finished project, something pretty for my home, clean sheets, a good hearty laugh, or a cup of tea and good book.  Bonnie invited me to stop by today to share some of my favorite things with you.  Enjoy!

For me, there is nothing better than the texture of linen, sewn into simple shapes and a bit of jewelry to add some sparkle to my days.

In my home, I am drawn to modern architecture and art, always married with warm wood tones and creamy ceramics.  I hope my friends would say my home is clean, but comfortable, a great place to have a cup of coffee and relax.

On my kitchen table, there will always be simple food, made with fresh ingredients, plus plenty of coffee and a fair bit of dessert to go around.

I love to dig in the dirt, and my favorite plants are those that are willing to share with the inside of the house too.  Whether it is big leafy plants, gorgeous succulents, or food from the veg patch, bringing the outside in is the best part of gardening.

happy april!

happy april fool’s day! rather than play a joke on you, i decided to celebrate april with you!  i’m generally pretty terrible at planning pranks, but i have to say that i have a little jokey planned for the hub, heheh!  last night i taped the spicket closed on the kitchen sprayer so when he turns the faucet on this morning he’s going to squirted! lol, i’ve been giggling to myself about it, but somehow he hasn’t made his way to the faucet yet!  i’m sitting here all antsy waiting for it.

“And Spring arose on the garden fair,
Like the Spirit of Love felt everywhere;
And each flower and herb on Earth’s dark breast
rose from the dreams of its wintry rest.”

april is national poem month as well. :)

i gathered these lovely photos from the going home to roost flickr pool. it’s so fun to see how everyone is roosting, and all in different ways!  i’ll be roosting today by tending to my garden and starting some new seedlings, also sewing a bit, cleaning house and making dinner for my sister and her beau!  so, the question is..

how do you roost?

join the going home to roost group and let us know!

spring green and grow

green & grow

despite our pretty harsh winter this year, little sprouts of green are already popping up all around!  this will be our first spring living here and since my grandmother put her (very) green thumb to use while she lived here, i’m starting to get use to mysterious things popping up all around me.    i have big plans for our garden this year, and though both of my thumbs tend to be a bit brown, i’m giving it my best shot.  the weather was beautiful on tuesday so i got to start my seeds of tomatoes, onions, broccoli and brussel sprouts indoors.  next week will be eggplants and peppers- wish me luck!

and back by popular demand…
