this simple diy project has brought me so much joy. it fills our guest room with a touch of gold and sense of peace and rest.

“When peace like a river attendeth my way
When sorrows like sea billows roll
What ever my lot you have taught me to say
It is well, it is well with my soul”

i’m sure you crafty bunch won’t need instructions for this project, but i’ll list them here anyways! :) you could of course use the same technique for any phrase. let your imagination run free!

wooden letters
my favorite gold spray paint
3m mini command strips
– level, ruler and pencil (optional)

step 1: place the letters on a large piece of scrap paper (newspaper would work well). spray paint them making sure to get all the sides.

step 2: use a ruler, level and pencil to plot the letters on the wall. eyeball it if you wish!

step 3: place a small 3m strip on the back of each letter. place firmly on the wall and hold for 60 seconds (follow package instructions)

DIY teardrop planters (1)

hello, friends! i’ve been on a diy kick lately, can you tell? (with lots more coming!) i was so inspired to make these teardrop planters after i saw the tutorial over on vintage revivals. i followed mandi’s instructions exactly and they turned out wonderful!

i keep them hung from a curtain rod by our large sliding glass doors in the living room. i love how cheery they are that they add a splash of gold to the area. i purchased these little white bowls from ikea and filled them with drapey succulents.

they really were pretty easy to make, other than the fact i had to cut up a bunch of pipes. it wasn’t really difficult, just time consuming. i think i cut pipes every night for a few weeks! the end result was definitely worth it though. head on over to vintage revivals to grab the tutorial!

a simple tray + the best gold spray paint (1)

hi friends! before signing off for the weekend i wanted to share a super quick and easy project with you. a simple golden tray! i have always loved keeping a tray in my kitchen for all my cooking essentials: salt & pepper, honey, measuring spoons and a container for compost. i was inspired to paint the tray gold to match the gold tipped spoon on my new porcelain salt cellar from honeycomb studio. i think they make a beautiful pair!

this tray from ikea was exactly what i was looking for in regards to size, but i couldn’t get over the loud polka dot pattern. nothing a quick paint job couldn’t fix! i ended up loving the soft white color underneath and bold brown edge, so i carefully taped around the edges to preserve them both.

step 1: find your perfect tray. ikea offers several sizes, all perfect for different spots in your kitchen!

step 2: tape along the edges, preserving the brown edge (if you like).

step 3: with light and even strokes, spray paint the top. my all time favorite gold spray paint is brilliant gold by design master. it’s brilliant, smooth and soft.

larken’s nursery

golden dot decals. i absolutely love this trend! i think it’s such a fun and easy (not to mention affordable!) detail to add to a room. i especially like the idea for a children’s room or nursery since the dots can’t fall down or be pulled off the wall.

i’m glad that little golden polka dots are popping up all over the place. i think it’s their simplicity that makes them elegant and effortlessly timeless. they add just the right amount of class!
