fabric jar diy

guess what i’ll be doing soon!! these sweet diy fabric jars come from the lovely blog fellow fellow (discovered via tiffany lane handmade). though claire suggests using them as votives (make sure to use battery operated tea lights!) i can see using them as added organization. i’m always keeping glass jars anyways, either from emptied raspberry jam or honey from the store. i think these would make a craft or work area so pretty! filled with pencils, scissors and paintbrushes, oh my!

head on over to follow follow for the full tutorial!

you pick raspberries

early we rose yesterday and to the ‘you pick organic farm’ we went. after an embarrassing amount of sugar, 4 trips to the grocery store and one lost wallet, we managed to can over 70 jars of raspberry jam. feet = exhausted. tummy = very happy.

diy painted jars

July 18, 2011

happy monday, lovelies! how was your weekend? after much debate, we decided to venture out into the dreaded carmageddon, but to our surprise, didn’t have any issues at all! in fact, it was eerily quite around l.a.- we spent the whole weekend there for a little bike-race-getaway and didn’t get stuck in traffic once. we couldn’t believe it! but enough of that, shall we get on to our 2nd diy for the day? i think so!

diy painted jars

after seeing these beautiful painted jars on kootut murut a while back, i couldn’t wait to make them myself. even though jutta’s turned out much prettier than mine, i thought i would at least go ahead and share them with you. they were a cinch to make and so much fun!

i’m going to send you over to jutta’s painting pastel glass jars for detailed instructions, but the steps are pretty simple. simply add paint, a little water, shake, drain and let dry. all the bottles i used were leftover condiment bottles, from salsa, strawberry jam and hot sauce. what a wonderful way to reuse, reduce and recycle!

diy painted jars

perfect for pens and paintbrushes, i love the simple look they have and the colorful splash they give.

DIY hanging mason jars

April 28, 2011

oh, how excited i was to recieve this sweet diy project in my inbox this morning! heather from post road vintage sells these darling hanging jars in her shop, but has been kind enough to share the full diy on her blog. yeah!

i’m thinking these scream mother’s day, am i right? sweet, simple, and handmade. you could also use this same technique with several different kinds of jars. i’ve been collecting old blue ones of various shapes for a long time now, and this project seems just perfect for them. you could also put a little tea light candle in them when you’re low on fresh cut flowers to create a beautiful, old-timey ambiance.

i’m thinking about hanging several of these around our wisteria trellis. i’m planning to use that as an outdoor dining space, and think these would be the perfect added touch. what do you think?
