i am absolutely in love with susana teixeira’s latest jewelry collection ‘sponge colony’. it’s feminine, organic and ever so unique, don’t you think? as you can imagine, i was delighted when susana contacted me about giving away one of her beautiful organic bronze rings to a going home to roost reader (that’s you)!
susana started out as a math teacher, but quickly realized she wanted to do something with her hands. jewelry making was her first stop and she now exhibits her work and has opened a beautiful shop. as a mathematician, it makes sense that she’s drawn to details, geometry, symmetry, asymmetry, and proportions. the results are nothing less than breathtaking!
about the organic bronze ring: this ring is a massive bronze piece that features a colony of sponges in different forms, sizes and lengths. it was made using the lost wax casting process, where susana manually sculpts the entire piece in wax and then uses the wax prototype to form the bronze piece in a professional foundry. this ring is available in any US size between 6 3/4 (interior diameter 17.1 mm / 0.67 inches) and 8 (interior diameter 18.1 mm / 0.71 inches).
deadline: giveaway will end sunday, november 3rd at 12am, eastern standard time. the winner will be drawn using a random number generator and announced on this post shortly after.
