doe a deer

one of the things i love most about decorating is mixing styles. i love to mix really old pieces with new ones and especially like throwing in some rustic touches on top of it all. whether it’s a cabin-in-the-woods feel or a more aztec vibe you’re going for, i think rustic pieces can really give your space extra depth.

one way to accomplish this look would be with this modern twist on the ol’ mounted deer head- faux taxidermy. it can give your space a modern-yet-rustic look- not to mention it’s a much kinder way to decorate. above are some of my favorites!

muddy heart pottery

what do you get when you combine a love for fabric and dough? hand-built pottery, of course! meli from north carolina first wanted to be a fashion designer, then moved on to opening a little bakery stand and finally joined the two passions with pottery, and voila- muddy heart pottery was born!

meli says her pottery is quirky and delicate and all handmade with tons of love and a heap of care. i love the little imperfections that show in hand built pottery and the sweet-rustic essence it gives to each piece. head on over to shop or website to see more!

a pouf pattern

puff daddy diy

attention, knitters! will you make me one of these? ;)

we’ve all seen one fabulous puffy pouf after another, but their beauty and functionality seem to always be accompanied by a hefty price tag. well, if you know how to knit, this pouf pattern from pickles will have you making knitted stools in no time. while you’re there, make sure to check out their lovely yarn and buttons, too!

oh. my. goodness. how i love lacasadecotó! big knitted pouffes, round knitted rugs and beautiful crocheted pillows. my favorite might even be this last one, which is a cover for ikea’s alseda stool. i have two of them just waiting to be dressed! there’s something sweet and elegant about these, just perfect for a cute little cottage.

this gals is a collector, knitter, photographer and overall nature enthusiast.  aren’t her creations beautiful?   i have really been enjoying the intricate detail and unexpected approach she takes to her work.  who would have thought to crochet a casing for pebbles to show the balance between delicacy and strength?  or to grow a garden in thimbles?  it’s so inspiring to see an artist push the envelop and deliver something so unique and natural. visit knitalatte to see more of her work!
