my homeland

some of you might know that i spent nearly the last month back east with my family in north carolina. my sweets went for work, i went to catch up with family and soak in the beautiful scenery. i’m so in love with the area, i just wanted to share a few of the snapshots i took while we were there! fox on the run features the most lovely landscapes! i am so fond of the vintage feel, serene colors and slightly weathered look that these have. can’t you just feel yourself roaming the fields of a tuscan pasture or passing through the grapvines of a vineyard in italy? these pictures take me right there, i can even feel the warm sun on my back and the slight breeze in my hair. ahhh.

our pike’s peak adventure

pike's peak colorado springs

this week i’m so excited to have my sister and dear friend in town for a visit. they are our first official visitors since the big move! to really show them the views of colorado, we took a cog to the top of pike’s peak. it’s the highest cog in the world and the views are absolutely stunning!

i love looking at the tree line on this mountain, it makes for such a pretty cap on the top.

the day was so clear and the sky was such a brilliant blue, it was the perfect conditions to see way off in the distance. these snow capped mountains are over 100 miles away!

even though the high in colorado springs was 60°F yesterday, on the top of pike’s peak it was 4°F  with winds blowing up to 70 mph! i’ve never experienced such conditions! the wind was so strong that we could fall into backwards and not fall down.  there was also a sweet little cafe on top where we enjoyed some warm hot chocolate and some chili.

and here’s the little red train we traveled on!

we’re going to be driving home to north carolina this weekend for thanksgiving, so i’ll be signing off until monday. i hope each of you have a wonderful weekend and i hope to see you back here next week! love, bonnie

happy monday dear ones!  did you have a good weekend? i stayed around the house and accomplished some neglected to-do’s, and even squeezed in a deep house cleaning!  yesterday i finally picked my muscadine grapes that have been longing for my attention and made some grape juice, then made david some hot sauce from our hot peppers that have been growing abundantly.  i used this chili garlic hot sauce recipe, and let me tell you, it’s is so good!!

rocky top studio

join me in welcoming the newest member of our sponsor family, rocky top studio! allison trentelman has been inspired by the natural landscape of maine’s coast for nearly ten years.  her beautiful work shows landscapes, wildlife, botanicals, birds and florals- all of which are absolutely breathtaking.  flipping through one photo to the next, she deepens your appreciation for what nature provides and shows you just how beautiful the little things can be.

i’ve always loved bonnie jones’s work (how could i not, with a name like that?) and was so thrilled to hear that she has opened another etsy shop!  in addition to her small print shop, you can now see her landscape photography in her new shop, craving open spaces.

bonnie jones photography

bonnie just returned from a florida-to-washington cross country road trip, and has added loads of beautiful landscape shots from her adventure.  there’s nothing like seeing the country through bonnie’s lense!

good morning monday!  how was your weekend? mine was quiet and relatively uneventful, so i feel ready and relaxed for the week- a nice change!

this picture just gave me a good laugh.  it did quite a lot for lightening my mood, so i couldn’t say no to sharing it with you. i love everything about it!  i can see myself touching the curls on her chest and running my fingers down her forehead.  we’ve become quite good friends.  here is my attempted translation of this beaut!
