these terrariums by grow little are the most delicate and beautifully crafted little ecosystems that i’ve ever seen. i love each fragile fern and the tiny leaves peeking out of the top. though my terrariums don’t hold a candle stick to these, they are still thriving and pretty on my table (see DIY instructions here). after seeing these creations, i believe i will begin to hunt for some frilly ferns and limby leafs!

when i found the forest floor, i was in awe.  such serenity and peace photographer jeff friesen brings to this quite corner of the world.  i have always been an admirer of the forest’s beauty, and he has captured it in it’s true brilliance.  in preparation for the holidays, he’s having a ‘2 for 1 sale‘ until november 15th, the perfect way to get started on your gifts!

in addition to my camera, you know i took a few plastic baggies! how sweet (and patient) david was to let me trail off in search for little found things. a little shrubbery, some dried flowers and some spanish moss should do the trick!

i haven’t quite decided what i’m going to do with all of my foundlings yet, but i also managed to come out with some living moss, so i might try my way at making a terrarium (any advice?).  i also found a fallen birch branch in which i quickly gathered up- i have big plans for it in our bedroom, and will show you as soon as i get it set up!

happy friday fellow roosters!  are you ready for the weekend? our weekends have been full of adventure, as we still have so many things and places to explore.  as neither of us have any friends or family here, our schedules are pretty much w.i.d.e. open- all the time.  although i thought it might be a little lonely, knowing no one other than the love of your life is actually, great fun! it’s like date night ever night of the week. we’ve been watching movies together, trying out new restaurants and exploring the mountains, and the weekends are when we get to do this the most. i feel so blessed to spend so much quality time together!

shannon blue’s photography is my inspiration for you this weekend, doesn’t it make you want to get outside? with the changing of the seasons, there is so much to see and explore.  her work gives you a glimpse of all the beauty there is to see, and the way she’s captured the earth’s brilliance leaves me eager to see it for myself.  so to this, i encourage you to go out and explore.  happy weekend to each of you, and make sure to share with us what you did and where you found beauty!

my neck of the woods

i think we should just take a minute to soak in the beauty that is around us.  this time of year, the colors of autumn are brilliant and i can’t help but be in total awe, every year.

these two photos are taken from the great smoky mountains, the place that i call home.  every autumn the mountains come alive with the most vibrant colors of red, orange and yellow.

and these two are taken from the great rocky mountains, the new place that we call home!  i feel incredibly blessed to be able to call such beautiful places ‘home’ and not one day goes by that i don’t appreciate their beauty.  i realize that the leaves don’t change everywhere, and other places in the world are just beginning to say hello to the green of spring, so my question is… what do the leaves look like in your town?
