spoonful

last week i got the most magical e-mail from a lovely gal named anthea, one of the makers behind spoonful. as she puts it, ‘spoonful is a short and inspiring little publication which, in light of our insanely busy lives, can be finished by the end of a train ride. it’s quick to consume, beautifully soft, & after reading will genuinely make you smile.’

spoonful

spoonfulinside their latest issue, they take a beautiful walk outside in the woods of germany with photographer toni weber, and invite readers to look up into the skies in our objects of affection section. from recipes & craft to happiness ponderings and spilt milk, it’s an issue to inspire and begin the new year with a batch of soul, & enrichment!

uppercase magazine

June 27, 2011

Posted by in handmade

happy monday, friends! i’ve got to admit, i’m running a little slow this morning, but after perusing uppercase magazine’s website, i’m feeling a bit more energized. have you heard of it?

uppercase magazine

as the magazine for the creative and curious, uppercase seems to be the magazine any creative would crave. published quarterly (april, july, ocobter & january), each issue boasts 100 pages of glorius creative print and features creatives from artists and illustrators to photographers and filmmakers. you’ll find that the pages are full of charm with patterns, collectibles and sweet indulgences. each issues is built around a theme, the one above focuses on food- from harvesting your own veggies and shopping the local farmers market to cooking them at home. i think a subscription to uppercase magazine would fit just about any rooster, don’t you think?

toffee magazine

today’s little sponsor welcome is for toffee magazine. have you heard about it? it’s the oh-so-delicious publication from nancy over at wolf and willow, and each magazine is packed full of pretty things and sugary goodness. with blogger interviews (you might recognize someone on p. 16, wink wink), diy how-to’s, recipes, 24 pages of craft tutorials and 10 pages of printable papers for crafts of all sorts, it’s definitely worthy of a thorough browsing. trust me!

toast catalog

can you smell it?  this magazine is just as delicious as a perfectly golden piece of toast.  or maybe my love for it has something to do with our beloved toaster? regardless, toast the catalog has me daydreaming of roadtrips and yearning for more.  from home goods to swimsuits, their luscious style reminds me of summer breezes and relaxing mornings.  flip through their catalogs or browse their summer collection, i can assure you you’ll leave inspired! needless to say, they’ve got me melting like warm butter over toast.

holiday diy magazine wreath

hi dearies! look at what i made this weekend!  a quick and easy magazine wreath that was so fun to make. you could use lots of different materials to give it a different look too- old sheet music, pages from a vintage book, even pictures!  i tried to put the seemingly endless supply of holiday catalogs to use- here’s how:

holiday diy magazine wreath

supplies:

-a few magazines (or other material of your choice)

-a stapler

-glue gun

-cardboard

i cut the cardboard out by tracing a big round baking pan then a smaller plate inside- then used an exacto knife to cut the wreath out.

holiday diy magazine wreath

while letting the glue gun warm up- you can start ripping out the pages that you want to use.  i tried using the brightly colored ones, and then some white ones to calm it down a bit.

holiday diy magazine wreath

rolling them in half, i stapled about 5 together at a time.  if you can see, i then bent back the ends to give some sort of a surface to apply the glue to.  after you have your bundles of five or so pages, start gluing them around the wreath. just be mindful of maintaining your ‘inner circle’ and i don’t think there’s any way you could go wrong- it’s as easy as that!

hello lovelies!  wow, i’ve got a tiny secret and some huge news for you today!  back in june when i launched going home to roost (both the blog and the esty shop), i had a tiny secret of a huge dream.  i made a list of goals for myself and my ‘mission statement’.  just where did i want all this going home to roost stuff to go?  well, i was pretty sure that the biggest goal i had would never actually happen.  so, i’ve never even said it out loud.  BUT, here goes. my big dream goal for 2009 was to make it somehow, somewhere into a magazine.  there.  i said it!

reader's digestwell!  thanks to reader’s digest- MY DREAM CAME TRUE!!  in this year’s dec/jan issue of reader’s digest- going home to roost is one of the three artists they featured within an article on etsy.  WOW!!  yes, i cried.

that's me!

thank you so much reader’s digest for allowing me to check off my biggest goal!

so grab the latest issue of readers digest (hitting the newsstands around nov. 21st) and read this great article about etsy and our main man, rob kalin who founded it.  it’s very interesting! xoxo, bonnie
