hey guys! i recently started a new challenge for the roost tribe. at the end of each month, members have the opportunity to share how they’ve used any of the elements or materials from the roost tribe. after everyone’s submissions are in, one member is chosen to be featured as the member of the month here on ghtr. it’s not mandatory, but just a fun way to share our projects and build a community. i hope you’ll enjoy seeing how this month’s winner used the roost tribe materials!

roost tribe member of the month

congratulations amy, you’re the roost tribe member of the month for october!

above you’ll see how amy has used several of the elements from the roost tribe to build a mock website for her website design class. here’s what she used!

1) triangle repeating pattern for the background from september
2) several of hand drawn arrows from september
3) numbered circles from october
4) social media icons from september
5) created her very own banners using the adobe illustrator tutorial from september

interested in joining the roost tribe or getting access to the above materials and tutorials? you can find out more information on the tribe and learn how to join here. past months are also available to purchase for $10 a month. just email me for details!

november desktop calendar

november is here! november is here! it’s always a special month to me- fall colors are vibrant and i get to begin the process of hibernating. it also means big changes for us this year (more on that later) which i’m very excited about. this month’s desktop calendar is inspired by fall foliage and darker evenings, crisp mornings and my favorite color.

happiness happens month

i couldn’t help but share this with you- not only is today happiness happens day, but the entire month of august is happiness happens month!

what is happiness happens month you say? well, it’s all about declaring your happiness and what it is that makes you happy. awesome, right?!

in celebration, i would like each of us to declare one thing that makes us happy. i’ll go first:

i am a happy person and one thing that makes me happy is snuggling with my sweet puppy, toaster.

so, my dear friends, what makes you happy? i’ll meet you in the comments section!

It’s already January, and like always, I don’t have my new calendar yet. In effort to be both eco-friendly and frugal, I designed a re-usable calendar that never needs to be tossed out, using items I already had around the house!

Materials

8″ x 10″ paper or card stock

wine cork, sponge, or other circular or square stamp

paint

picture frame with glass

dry erase marker

pen

Directions

The first step is to create the calendar base using the paint and stamp to create the daily calendar boxes. Since this calendar will be reused monthly, you want to stamp enough days for a month that starts on a Saturday and 31 days long (up to six rows of seven columns).

Choose coordinating or contrasting paint color combinations – use just one color, or as many as you wish to compliment your space.

Use a pen to label the top of each column with the corresponding day of the week – this is the only permanent part of the calendar.

After your stamped mat has dried, place in under the glass in a frame. Hang it on a wall, or upright on a counter or shelf. Use your dry erase marker to re-write the name of the month, and the dates on the correct days every month. Use your dry erase pen to mark important events and occasions, like any other calendar. Leave a little extra space on the side or the bottom for notes.

Erase, repeat monthly, and never tear another calendar page again!
