porcelain ceramics

with feather mugs and tumbleweed cups, vanessa villarreal’s hand-built ceramics had me at hello. wouldn’t an eclectic collection of these make for the most darling dinner set?

redraven

we’ve all seen our fair share of little antique tea cups collaged with decals- whether in our grandmother’s cupboard or at the antique walk about.  they can be stunningly beautiful, but have always left me perplexed.  i’m no tea cup collector and i have no ornate shelves protected by glass doors for such fragile pieces.  inspired by the dying popularity of such pieces, redraven was born.  amy lumsden uses the same antique techniques to make modern necklaces, earrings, belt buckles and hair pins.  how pretty would one of these sweet necklaces be paired with a fall dress, high waisted belt and a simple cardigan? timeless.

diy porcelain paint pens{valentine’s plate}

you know i always talk about my next creative endeavor? well, i can assure you, this will be it!  welcome to the world of porcelain paint pens, friends!

it always amazes me when i find a new craft, it’s like how did i survive without knowing this? you can purchase porcelain paint pens from any craft store (like michaels or a.c. moore) and get to creating your own pottery in no time. draw on your design, bake it in your conventional oven at 300°f for 30 minutes and you’re done!  (i also read that it’s good practice to place your piece in the oven at room temp, let them preheat together, then cool off together before removing).

and the best part is? you don’t even have to be an artist! all you have to do is doodle, write, scribble, or play.  i love projects that allow you to turn thrifted, boring or inexpensive pieces into personalized art- and this one definitely qualifies.

think about all the possibilities- plates, bowls, mugs, subway tiles, coasters, pitchers… i have a set of plain ‘ol porcelain plates just waiting to be doodled on!

this handmade porcelain by samantha robinson is bold, yet delicate and feminine all at the same time.  i love the the bright colors and floral, girly patterns.  her website alone is piece of art, and each vase, kettle and tea cup i see there gets me finding the perfect place for them around my home!

isn’t this set up a vision?  she also sells fresh flowers and if you happen to be in australia, you can find her at the paddington markets.

i hope you have a sunshine-y weekend, and hope to meet you back here on monday!

porcelain deer pendant

poodlebreath

clockwise :: winter white porcelain deer pendenat :: plum wool neck cozy with three rabbits brooch :: white sinking fairy tale :: amber porcelain rabbit brooch

ok, poodlebreath may be a little odd but they are a lot of amazing!  i can’t decide if i like the hands reaching out but they certainly intrigue me.  i love the alice and wonderland feel to it all and also love how each pendant stands out.  isn’t the blue deer stunning against her skin?
