during our travels last weekend, i was able to make it to one of my favorite spots, the raleigh flea market! that’s where i came across this beaut- and though i wasn’t sure what my plans were for her- i knew she had to be mine!

the gal i bought it from (for $10!) said it used to be the top to an old tobacco smoker(?).  do you know anything about it?  at first my plan was to clean it up and paint it, but once i set it in my living room i think i’ve decided stick with the patina charm for now.  what do you think?

did you notice all my pretty pretty flowers? last week, i was also showered with some of the most beautiful birthday flowers from friends!  pretty yellow day lilies and pink and orange zinnias are making my house feel so bright and joyful right now.

aren’t these stunning? they are from my dear friend callie’s yard (talk about a green thumb).  i think the zinnia might just be my new favorite flower!
