front yard flowers {photo by me}

happy friday, friends! today i want to give a big shout out to several guest authors who helped me out this week! in case you didn’t know, we had family in town this weekend and it was so nice to be able to give them some extra attention. so i’m sending out a big {BIG} hug to:

ashley pahl from indie pretty projects

melissa vest from art does good

laura benn of PAWSH magazine

courtney pearce from 30 days of yoga and art

what do you have planned this weekend? we’ve got bike races to attend, birthday parties to throw and (veggie) burgers to barbecue! next week will be much calmer and i’ve got lots of fun posts planned.

for until we meet again, i thought you might like to check out this idea (found on how about orange) for how to store all your loose pieces of ribbon and washi tape from all people quilt. cute, right? happy organizing! xox, bonnie

hammocking

it’s friday already?! not sure how that happened…

make your own hammock

{make your own hammock}

this weekend is going to be a little hectic. today the tour of california comes through our town of solvang, so the mister is busy busy tending to athletes and supporting the race. tonight we will be attending a gala for the event and the excitment that has been building for months now will come to a close. as for me, i have plans of crafty things (of course). i’ve got seat cushions to make, bottles to paint and hammocks to build.

did i say hammocks to build? YES. hammocks to build! i’ve got a huge piece of striped canvas that’s just screaming to be made into a hammock. for now i’m planning on following these directions from outside mom, but also enjoyed watching this video on the art of hammocking by mary jane’s farm.

what are you doing this weekend?

diy: perfectly bound

February 25, 2011

perfectly bound

well, today we close another week! friday’s always creep up on me. did your week go by quickly? as i was browsing through the blogosphere earlier, i found this darling diy over at poppytalk, and thought you might like to embark on a craft this weekend. do you journal? occasionally i’ll find myself jotting down ideas or notes, and sometimes i’ll sketch little flowers or patterns out on a piece of paper. notebooks are the easiest way to do that.. and well, let’s just admit it- they’re pretty to have just sitting around. don’t you think? head on over to poppytalk to to get the full diy instructions on how to make this perfectly bound journal.

i had so much fun here with you this week, and always love creating conversation and getting to know each of you better. here’s a little wrap up of ghtr from this week and a few articles i think you might enjoy from around the web.

- learn how to put those big dreams into action with tara gentile’s the art of action e-course.

- have a mac? check out omm writer and finally write in peace.

- download the ingredients to avoid pocket guide for body care products

- enter to win a seat in the ‘do what you love e-course‘ – giveaway ends sunday!

- find out why you should be in love with fatty acids, and learn everything you need to know about cooking oils.

see you on monday!
xox, bonnie

another friday, another weekend! what do you have planned? we have a friend coming to visit, so i’m sure we’ll be out and about all weekend showing him the sights there are to see. :)

diy pom poms

i love this diy pom pom project from dujour. similar to the winter pom poms i made for celebrate magazine, these use circles of fabrics rather than coffee filters. aren’t they pretty? jump on over here for the full how-to.

did you have a good week? i’ve enjoyed so much sharing with you and the discussions we’ve had. just in case you missed anything, here’s a quick recap:

- 20 reasons to go vegan

- the dos & don’ts of newsletter sign-ups

- my recipes for hummus and home fries

- and below, your take on digital readers: to nook or not?

hope to see you monday! love, bonnie

diy watercolor paints

January 7, 2011

happy friday, lovelies! even though i’ve been back since monday, i still feel like i’m trying to get back in the groove of things from our break. do you? or, is it just me? i still have a few bags to unpack and things to do around the house, of which i plan to get to this weekend, but in addition to that, i hope to get a little creative.

diy watercolor paints

i found this easy recipe for making your own watercolors over on heather hackett’s blog, lilac silhouette. made with ingredients that you most likely already have in your pantry, this recipe goes together quickly and will have you painting in no time. you can head on over to lilac silhouette for the full how-to and recipe.

what do you plan to do this weekend? i’m hoping to paint a little. :)
