wild pulpwild pulp

the perfect mixture of flora and fauna. i just love these little guys from wild pulp! all from a series called ‘north american animals in bark’, owen smith photographs the barks of specific tree species and then looks for the animals spirit reflected in the world of flora that surrounds them. i love that. :) the perfect inspiration for this project? john muir’s quote, “when we tug at a single thing in nature, we find it attached to the rest of the world.”

gingiber

aren’t these just the cutest? softly stuffed plush pillows from gingiber may technically be for a nursery, but i say they are suitable for anyone with a heart for woodland motifs and cozy snuggles!

youareconstanceeveryone seems to know that i have a weakness for woodland animals. just this past weekend, a friend of mine saw a deer print at a thrift store and called me over just to make sure i didn’t miss it. i’m not sure exactly what it is about them, but i think these creatures take me back to nature, no matter where i am. especially when they are illustrated as beautifully as these. youareconstance by rebekah garibay features one sweet print after another- from birds and deer to rabbits and skunks!

my mister loves maps. he uses them to plan his route for bike rides and loves to weave together all of the little connected back roads that he never knew existed. we have a large map hanging over our desk and most afternoons we’ll meet there so i can learn about his planned adventure. he likes them so he can ‘study the land’ (what a guy-thing). i like them because they bring a certain kind of ‘smart’ look to an area (what a girl-thing). when i saw jason laferrera’s take on maps over at design*sponge yesterday, i knew i wanted to make sure you didn’t miss them! he takes historical maps and pieces them together to make these woodland wonders. how beautiful!

charmain olivia

charmaine olivia is a self-taught san franciscan artist, and the way she perfectly portrays these painted ladies speaks to me deeply.  showing emotions that can’t be put into words, i love the face she gives to each of them.

charmain olivia

in addition to her more colorful work, she draws the most beautiful and feminine silhouettes, and you can buy the originals right in her shop. with obvious nautical, woodland and native themes, i can’t even begin to pick my favorite!

make sure to visit her website where you can explore more of her work and along with her lovely blog.

super duper things

August 27, 2010

well dear ones, our week has come to a close! i hope each of you have a beautiful weekend full of the things that you love. :) my new soup lover and i will be off to colorado springs on sunday, so i’ll be excited to report to you on monday from a different state! any advice on what we should do while we’re there?

super duper things

summed up pretty perfectly, this shop is full of super duper things! woodland silhouettes, pretty pendants, frilly cuffs and even a couple of vintage shoe finds. from military finds to nautical inspirations, they have something to suit just about every one of my current obsessions. if you just have to have more (like me) visit their blog for some more really very extraordinarily super duper things!
